Labor leaders in Chicago are scheduled to hold a march and rally today calling for immigration reform and an end to deportations, officials said.
Leaders with the Chicago Federation of Labor, Illinois AFL-CIO Local 1, Local 881 UFCW, National Nurses United and the Chicago Workers Collaboration are hosting the march and rally.
Among the goals being sought is “an immediate end to deportations and immigration reform legislation which will protect workers’ rights and provide for legalization for all workers.”
The event will begin at Teamster City, 1645 W. Jackson Blvd. at noon where the parade will kick off at 2 p.m. The parade will travel east on Jackson Boulevard to Federal Plaza at Jackson and Dearborn where a rally is scheduled at 3 p.m.
